Vegan Weight Loss French Onion Dip:
This recipe sounds like it would be full of the traditional high salt and artificial seasonings you’d find in the store … but if you care about your body, health, fitness performance and weight-loss (and especially if you’re a vegan), you’ll love this recipe:
Preheat your oven to 450 degrees and wait 10 minutes or so.
drizzle one tablespoon olive oil on a baking sheet and throw in 1 medium sliced onion, 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar, and sprinkle 1/2 teaspoon salt and 1/4 teaspoon pepper over the onion slices. Bake about 16-20 minutes or until onion is browned. Take the baking sheet out of the oven and transfer the onions to a bowl to let cool.
Once the onion slices are cool, chop them into little bits. Add one 12 ounce container vegan sour cream (like Tofutti) or low-fat sour cream, 1/2 teaspoon soy sauce and 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme and mix thoroughly. You might want to refrigerate before serving or eat it right there.
Now it’s time to enjoy this lovely yummy healthy dip with fresh chopped vegetables or baked whole-grain tortilla chips
Super Healthy and Easy Trail Mix Athletic Snack:
I just read this in my subscription to www.Active.com (great tips and source of Athletic running races and triathlons) and paraphrased it for your convenience.
If you read the labels on many trail mixes or athletic snack bars, there is too much sugar and fat in many of them. Here’s a recipe for your own homemade trail mix:
Goji Berries
People in China have eaten these berries for centuries to increase their health and longevity. They are packed with antioxidants that may slow the aging process and even ward off diseases like cancer, heart disease, high-blood pressure and may reduce the risk of Alzheimer’s due to the berry’s extracts ability to boost brain health. They even have a nice dose of Vitamin A, which can help with eye health. Why is this ingredient important to you? Studies have also shown that antioxidants help with recovery after workouts.
Cacao Nibs
Never heard of Cacao nibs? Me neither. We’ve all heard of Cocoa – which comes from a plant and is made into powder from the cocoa tree. Cacao is a word for a portion of the product that’s made from cocoa bean.
Cacao Nibs are basically cocoa beans that have been cut up or broken down into smaller bite sized chunks. These contain theobromine, which activates our central nervous system [CNS] similar to how caffiene does. It can be a great engergy booster. It’s also a nice provider of flavanols, another antioxidant that helps reduce risk of heart disease. It’s in the chocolate family, and who doesn’t like chocolate?
Almonds
You’ll want to be sure to use raw almonds. The roasted ones don’t have the same benefits. Raw almonds are incredibly rich in nutrients. I wrote about other great healthy ingredients on my page about nutritional recipes and a healthy food menu – https://www.freedailyfitnesstips.com/nutritional-recipes-and-a-healthy-food-menu/. Almonds provide vitamin E (alpha-tocopherol), calcium, fiber, protein, riboflavin and niacin. People who eat almonds in their diet tend to reduce cholesterol, heart disease, blood pressure and Alzheimer’s disease. Eating them may also prevent colon cancer, diabetes, constipation and birth defects in newborns – WOW! Almonds also help increase brain productivity, and boost energy. Get all these benefits with just several a day – that’s all we ask.
